Jaden Smith Joins Blackbear as Additional Opener on Fall Arena Tour
28 JULY 2017 (TORONTO, ON) – Multi-platinum selling, Grammy-nominated band Fall Out Boy has unveil the music video for their single, Champion, today via Island Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. The Brendan Walter and Mel Soria-directed video stars Josh Brener (Silicon Valley), Timothy Granaderos (13 Reasons Why), Ashley Iaconetti (The Bachelor), and Jaden Smith (The Get Down) depicting characters who embody the song’s anthemic and defiant message within individual narratives.
“I can’t think of a worse drug than fake reality,” says Fall Out Boy bassist & lyricist Pete Wentz. “We create, and can be, whoever we want yet our choices often leave us lonely and unfulfilled. Smash the fake reality. Don’t just sit around and kill time.”
“Champion” is the first single from Fall Out Boy’s highly-anticipated seventh studio album due out later this year M A  N   I    A.  The upcoming record follows up the band’s platinum-certified sixth studio album, American Beauty/American Psycho, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its January 2015 release. “Champion” has already amassed more than 10 million total streams and continues to gain more than one million streams weekly.  Already climbing the alternative radio charts, it has been the most added track at pop and hot A/C radio this week. Last night, the Empire State Building shined its world famous tower lights in purple during a live performance at Z100’s Block Party to illuminate the sky and complement the musical aesthetic of M A  N   I    A.
Jaden Smith joins Blackbear as the second opener on Fall Out Boy’s previously announced 20-city North American fall arena tour, which includes one Canadian tour date in Toronto on October 27.  $1 of every ticket of the tour will go towards the band’s newly launched Fall Out Boy Fund which will support a number of charities in the Chicago area.
Earlier this week, Fall Out Boy’s “Young and Menace” garnered a 2017 MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Rock Video – their third consecutive nomination in the category, including their 2015 win for “Uma Thurman”.
Hailing from Chicago, Fall Out Boy consists of Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass), Joe Trohman (guitar) and Andy Hurley (drums).
