New single and video come in advance of the January 20 launch of debut album, Mr. Optimist Blues

Siena Records / Warner Music Canada recording artist Jonathan Roy’s new single, “Good Things” has been released to radio today and to all DSPs and streaming services.

“Good Things” is the latest track to be culled from Roy’s forthcoming major label debut album, Mr. Optimist Blues, which will be released Friday, January 20, 2017 (see full tracklisting below).

“I was going through a very painful, emotional period trying to get over a recent relationship breakup,” says Roy. “´Good Things´ really hit home hard. It was a song I needed to sing"

To accompany the launch of “Good Things”, award winning director Javier Aguilera and Andrew Hunt have produced a stunning music video film featuring Roy in an extremely challenging acting role.

Commenting on the video, director Aguilera said "As Directors, it was incredibly exciting to collaborate with a fearless artist like Jon, who unguardedly committed to the role, both emotionally and physically, to become the deeply conflicted and vulnerable character we envisioned"

Jonathan Roy is the son of hockey legend Patrick Roy. Jonathan had grown up in his father’s footsteps, playing goalie for the Quebec Remparts but at 18 years old, he hung up his skates for good because music was his true calling.

In 2013, Roy was introduced to Canadian pop Icon Corey Hart. Hart & Roy felt an immediate connection to each other and subsequently Hart signed him to his Siena Records label partnered with Warner Music Canada.

Roy has enjoyed considerable radio success over the past 16 months with the Top Ten hit “Daniella Denmark” and “You’re My Ace” (Top 5 in Quebec), both penned by Corey Hart.

Most recently, Jonathan’s cover of Chris Rea’s “Driving Home For Christmas”,  featuring Hart, hit #1 on the national airplay charts for both Mainstream AC (beating out the likes of Bruno Mars and Maroon 5) as well as the Holiday Airplay chart in Canada.

To celebrate and support the launch of Mr. Optimist Blues, Jonathan will perform a series of headlining concerts in Ontario and Quebec.
