The band took part in #CCMANom Day to announce Female artist of the year category
12 July 2017 (Toronto, ON) – Ontario-crafted country outfit James Barker Band scored five Canadian Country Music Association Award category nominations this morning, the band is up for awards in the following categories:
Single of the Year – Lawn Chair Lazy
Album of the Year – Game On
Rising Star Award
Video of the Year – Chills
Group or Duo of the Year
“We are completely blown away from the support of the Canadian Country Music Association and the five nominations, to say we’re thrilled would be an understatement,” says James Barker. “Also, a big congratulations to all the other nominees, we are up with some of the best in the business.”
The quartet took part in #CCMANom Day this morning, announcing the Female Artist of the Year award category.
Formed in 2013, the James Barker Band consists of James Barker, Taylor Abram, Bobby Martin, and Connor Stephen. As winners of the 2015 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase, they secured an album release with Universal Music Canada and won an all-inclusive trip to Nashville, Tennessee. The band have had a busy year, with their first two singles, “Lawn Chair Lazy” and “Just Saying”. Both tracks debuted in the top 10 at Canadian Country radio, with “Lawn Chair Lazy” securing the guys the title of the highest charting debut single ever from a Canadian country artist. Recently the band secured the #1 spot at Canadian Country Radio with their single “Chills”, making them the first Canadian band to have a #1 on their debut album The videos for their three singles also went to #1 on the CMT Canada “Chevy Top 20 Countdown”. Their debut EP, Game On, released via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading Music Company, dropped in April to industry praise and the band recently wrapped their cross-country tour opening for Dean Brody. The PotashCorp Country Music Week 2017 is being held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from September 7 to 10 and The 2017 CCMA Awards Show will air on CBC on Sunday, September 10 at 8 p.m. (8:30 p.m. NT).
