Singer-Songwriter to Perform National Anthem at Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada This Sunday
05 JUNE 2017 (TORONTO, ON) – Multi-award winning songstress Serena Ryder today debuts at #1 on both the Top Current Album and Digital Album Nielsen SoundScan charts with her latest full-length, UTOPIA, released May 26 via Serenader Source/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company.
UTOPIA is a collection of winning songs written on the fly in Los Angeles, London, Nashville, and Toronto with such friendly collaborators as Simon Wilcox, Thomas “Tawgs” Salter, John Grant, Todd Clark and Derek Furnham with one goal in mind- to enjoy the moments that make up the process of creating music. “A lot of the songs on this record are basically just experimentation and me hanging out with friends and having a good time and just kind of writing in that way,” says Ryder.
Ryder’s genre-defying songwriting is showcased on UTOPIA, heralded by pre-release singles Got Your Number and Electric Love. She has found the fine balance of blending her singer-songwriter sensibilities, her rock intuition while effortlessly lacing in the undeniable catchiness of what makes a song pop. UTOPIA follows the critical and commercial hit, Harmony (double platinum certified), which produced the unstoppable, triple-platinum single, Stompa and platinum What I Wouldn’t Do as well as having garnered three Juno Awards plus a 2014 MuchMusic Video Award.
Ryder was also awarded a 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Achievement in Music for her original song for “It’s No Mistake” from the movie The Right Kind of Wrong. Serena Ryder and her band will perform at multiple festival dates this summer, with a coast-to-coast headlining tour to come this fall. This Sunday, June 11, Ryder will perform the national anthem for an international broadcast audience in the millions from the Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada in Montreal, which also marks 50 years of F1 racing in Canada. Celebrating another major milestone, Ryder will perform in Ottawa as part of Canada Day 150 celebrations July 1.  For full list of tour dates, visit serenaryder.com.
